Tapas is no longer just found in Spain as it became rather a fad in the UK and now there are tapas restaurants up and down the country. However, having visited a big number I may safely say that they are not ‘real’ tapas bars they are more like restaurants serving tapas style dishes. So what is tapas? Well a tapa is a lid so tapas are lids and some years ago when a local went in to a bar to get a beer or wine they would put a bit of bread on top as a tapa (lid) to stop the flies getting in their drink. Later to make the bread a little more interesting tiny bits of feed were placed on the bread and so tapas was born. Of course lately it has evolved and is a culinary wonder with some adventurous and traditionalisti dishes. So as promised here are a heap of tapas tips. On a menu you will normally see three prices underneath three dissimilar headings; Tapa, media racion and racion. These mean a little portion, half a dish and full dish respectively. We would commend that you order a large total of dissimilar tapas portions so you may experience the a heap of dissimilar flavours from fish to meat from vegetables to rice. Typical tapas dishes include albondigas (meatballs), croquetas (croquettes), calamari (squid rings), boquerones (pickled anchovies), patas bravas (spicy potatoes), gambas pil pil (spicy garlic prawns) and chorizo (spicy Spanish sausage). You will observe that a great deal of traditionalisti tapas bars are called bodegas and have barrels outside that are converted into tables. If you occur to be on holiday on the Costa del Sol there are a number of tapas bars to choose from like the famous Valencia Tapas bars in Marbella. However, even in huge holiday resorts like Club La Costa you will find that the bars and cafes likewise have a tapas menu so guests may get enjoyment from a established Spanish style lunch. My joy of finding such a “bargain” price on one of my favorite cologne’s turned into a big disappointment once it arrived. The fragrance in this bottle does not smell nearly as robust as the bottle of Paul Sebastion that it replaced. This cologne is either very stale through aging, or it’s an imitation. One thing I loved about my old Paul Sebastian is that the scent lasted all day and into the night. Not so with the bottle I ordered here, so my best guess is that it is truly an imitation. 10 of 13 people found the following review helpful. |
