Citrus fragrances can turn me off. To be brutally honest, I don’t like them. So, when I first sniffed The Beat for Men by Burberry, I was not initially enamored with it. But, before I tell you my true views about this cologne, I will first describe it according to Burberry’s publicity. “We wanted to create a fragrance that expressed [disheveled] elegance – an unforced look, style and attitude that is young, modern, masculine and dynamic. Articulating the creativity, positivity, energy and open-minded, individualistic, effortless approach of The Beat,” says Christopher Bailey, creative director of Burberry. This fragrance is for the man who lives in the moment. He is energetic, innovative and creative. “The unification of a modern generation of uniquely talented and like-minded men, [characterized] by their self-belief, individuality, free-thinking creativity, natural style of disheveled elegance, dynamic masculine, attitude and energy,” asserts Mr. Bailey. The Beat is a Citrus – Aromatic cologne. It begins with a musky Citron note. Its heart is Vetiver, Fresh Notes, Violet and Pepper, and it dries down to White Musk and Leatherwood Accord. What are my real thoughts about The Beat for Men? As I’ve mentioned in the introduction of this review, I was initially thrown off by its strong citrus beginning. I typically like woodsy or masculine floral fragrances. I also like fragrances with strong synthetic notes. But, despite my first reaction, something about The Beat made me want to wear it. I was hypnotized by its alluring lingering scent. My suspicions about its “magical powers” was confirmed. Two people, a friend and a beautiful young lady, went wild over its scent. I also noticed the longing stares from strangers as soon as they inhaled a whiff of The Beat upon my body as I passed them. I think the right combination of citrus and aromatic notes makes this fragrance extra special. The Beat for Men is available as a 1.7 oz Eau de Toilette for $55.00 and a 2.5 oz Eau De Toilette for $65.00. Its collection also includes an aftershave, an aftershave balm, a deodorant and a shower gel. It is sold in fine department stores and online perfumeries. I highly recommend this fragrance for all men. |
