Showering is one of the most relaxing yet rejuvenating ways to start up your day. As you have the rest of the day’s activities in your head, you head on calmly to the shower. As you would continue your morning rituals of shaving, brushing your teeth or applying make-up, you turn to your bathroom mirror and see nothing but fog covering the whole mirror. The moisture and steam generated in the bathroom when you take a shower is the culprit as to why your bathroom mirror gets all fogged up. What happens next is you clean, or rather, scrub the mirror over and over again to remove the fog and make it squeaky clean before you use it. Here is how you can prevent your bathroom mirrors from fogging up in the first place.
- A simple, temporarily effective and pretty obvious way of keeping bathroom mirrors fog-free is by placing a towel over the mirror. You can just hang the towel over the mirror so that the moisture will not attach to the mirror. You can place clamps over the corners of the mirror to secure the towels and prevent it from falling off. Without them, the towels may fall off by the time you step out of the shower. Be careful though in placing clamps so as to not damage the corners of the mirror or inflict injury on your hands.
- You can also use anti-fog supplies that you use for your car on the bathroom mirrors. The glass surfaces are basically the same and the anti-fog properties are also the same as it battles the same type of fog. For this to work, you must first wipe off the glass with a clean piece of cloth to remove dirt to allow the anti-fog agents to set in. Next, on the other side of the cloth put a generous amount of the anti-fog solution. In a circular motion, rub the anti-fog solution into the glass. This will keep your glass fog-free for the next few showers at least.
- As a practical and sort-of homemade trick, use shaving cream on your mirror to prevent fog. Same with applying any cream on any mirror, remove dirt from the mirror by wiping it clean with a clean cloth. Next, spray a small amount of shaving cream on one side of the mirror and with a circular motion, rub the shaving cream on the whole surface.
It doesn’t matter what type of anti-fog solution or shaving cream you have because all of these work wonders in keeping your bathroom mirror fog-free. So next time you shower, remember to do any of these tips so you can step out of the shower completely relaxed and ready to do what you need to do next. Solving your fog problem is easy and doesn’t take that much time and energy. Yet the benefits will be truly felt as you start of your day hassle-free and without any annoying bathroom mirror fog that can ruin the flow of your morning.
The Shave Well Company A Truly Fog Free
A close, comfortable shave requires a lot of moisture. What better place to get wet than in the shower! Simply by its unique design, The Shave Well Company TRULY FOG FREE mirror will change the way you feel about shaving in the shower.
Warm it up!
To get that truly fog-free reflection with your Shave Well mirror, hold it under the shower stream for a few seconds to “warm it up” right before you shave.
What is fog and why does it happen?
Fog is simply condensation. Shower water is much warmer than the air temperature of most homes. Your warm shower heats the air and it becomes saturated. This warm moist air becomes fog or condensation which collects on all cooler surfaces – like mirrors.
How is the Shave Well mirror truly fog free?
The Shave Well Company shower shaving mirror is fog free simply by design! In the few seconds you hold it under the shower spray the temperature of the moist air and the mirror equalize to create a long lasting, truly fog free image for the duration of your shower. No more temperature difference – no more fog.
Suction cups don’t suck!
The adhesive hook affixes to any shower surface holding Shave Well mirror solidly in place. No more suction cups falling off of the wall. Also, since Shave Well mirror is removable from the wall mounted hook it is very easy to clean for a clear reflection each time you use it.
As Goldilocks said…it’s just right.

Science behind the mirror makes it fogless By SalanaE7 Ok so … at first I wasn’t too thrilled with the mirror and actually wrote a review here reflecting my dissatisfaction. But within about an hour, I received a nicely worded email from the manufacturer offering insight to exactly how the technology in the mirrors construction, makes it truly fogless. We had it positioned in the shower too high on the wall (have kids so … glass and water + kids = not good).

Very Happy With It By Gil My first impression was that it seemed small. I recently started shaving my head due to being follically challenged with age and I wanted to shave in the shower as that provides the best results. So this is my first shower mirror in years. It’s light weight, I believe it’s acrylic with a rubberry backside for a good grip even when wet. It appears to be good quaity & I saw no distortions. I also like the hook, which allows for easy placement where you want and with more hooks (you can buy at any hardware store) you can hang easily in diferent locals for different sized users. Now to the functionality – I started the shower and upon entering heated the mirror up to check it’s fog free claim. I then soaked in the hot water myself for about 20 minutes to relax before shaving. the mirror is off to the side so that I don’t have to stand under the stream and shave, allowing me to lather up. Sure enough it had fogged up, but I had increased water temp & it hadn’t been under the stream in that time. No problem as I grabbed it easily with wet soapy hands and held it in the stream for a few seconds and it was good for the entire shave. The few drops on the mirror afterwords were not a distraction from shaving. As to my first impression, I was wrong, the size fits in your hand easily & I didn’t have to touch at all while shaving my whole head, I do keep a light beard so I need the mirror for the trim detail and it worked perfect for that as well.

Fantastic Shave Mirror! By T. GROSS I have used many shower shaving mirrors before, all disappointing, but this one really lives up to its claims. Most of the others mounted to the shower wall, and they’d fog immediately. I’d end up trying to “throw” water at them to get them to clear up, but the fog and streaking would immediately reappear. Those mirrors weren’t heavy-duty enough to hold the heat, which is the trick. This mirror’s heavy duty surface is what retains the heat when held under the shower, and the quality of the reflection is first class. I’ve gotten into the habit of holding the mirror in one hand and shaving with the other. That way, I can quickly re-heat the mirror if needed, but more importantly, realign my face and mirror for the best lighting and focal distance. I haven’t had to polish the mirror with toothpaste yet, but the other mirrors all warned me not to clean them with anything, as it would wreck their special coatings. This mirror’s design doesn’t rely on “special” coatings that don’t work anyway, and allows for you to restore the surface with a gentle abrasive (toothpaste) when and if needed.
